If Kennel Cough is confirmed, giving the vaccination can sometimes treat the viral infection and make it better quicker.

If her cough is caused by an infection with the viruses and/or bacteria that cause "kennel cough" a vaccine given after infection will not cure her. It may protect her from getting infected later, but not at this point. Her cough could be from a number of different causes, other than kennel cough, including heart disease, bronchitis, pneumonia, and a collapsing trachea. Your vet can help you figure out exactly what's causing it and how to treat it.

A cough in a 10 year old dog will make me immediately think of a heart condition. Olderr dogs frequently suffer from congestive heart failure, and especially poodles do so. A kennel cough vaccination will not alleviate the cough, even if it is just a respiratory infection. I strongly suggest that you take her to your vet who will check out heart and lungs and possibly also do a heartworm test. If caught early congestive heart failure can be treated and your dog's life will have better quality and can be prolonged.
