9 yr old Tuxedo cat treated for a ruptured anal gland abscess. She refuses to wear any type of cone I put on her, rips them off. Any other suggestion

There is a type of collar called a "No-bite" collar, which might work well for Chicken. It's kind of like a cervical collar a human would get for a neck injury, and keeps them from being able to access the rear part of their body. Lots of vets sell them, or your local PetSmart might have them as well. Cats usually take the smallest size.

IF she is on antibiotics and does not seem to lick the area excessively, then it will have to do without the con. otherwise the alternatives are just between different types of cons, the inflatable pillow like one probably being the less annoying for the cat but many suborn cat manage to puncture it.

There are 'soft' collars made of fabric which are very effective at stopping cats from licking wounds and generally much better tolerated than the hard cones - I recommend you try these to protect the wound as far as possible. If she will not tolerate these either the wound is healing well and less than one centimeter in length you could remove cone while you can monitor her and supervise that she does not attempt to traumatize the area. There are anti-lick preparations that can be used but these can distress cats as they are such careful groomers they do not like to have any substances on their coats at any time.
