You could discuss with your veterinarian the possibility of adding potassium citrate to the diet if your dog is having calcium oxalate stones. Calcium binds to citrate instead of to oxalate. Potassium citrate can also help to create a more alkaline urine, which would reduce the formation of calcium oxalate stones. Another medication to discuss with your veterinarian based on the urinalysis results would be thiazide diuretics. These increase the amount of urine produced and reduces the calcium content. Another option for diet is to try a home cooked: balanceit.com is a great website to help design appropriate home cooked diets based on your dog's needs.

It depends on what kind of stones they are. Ask your veterinarian what the Lab results were on the composition of the stones they retrieved when they did surgery. Hill's Prescription Diet has multiple formulas that can help dissolve and/or prevent further formation, but they are specific to the type of stone. http://preview.tinyurl.com/plnqlqo
