Can I give my dog and cat vitamin e to better their coat?
-
Many pet foods already contain vitamin E because it acts as a preservative. I advise checking with your vet. Unless your pet has a problem with their skin, to add supplementation can upset the balance of the food they are currently eating. If your pets are on a high quality food such as Science Diet or Royal Canin, additional supplementation isn't necessary, and if they do need support for their skin and fur, feeding a diet formulated for that purpose is a better method of getting the correct balance of nutrition while still getting the desired effect. Vitamin E is stored in the fat reserves in the body and can build up, causing adverse effects.

Yes, vitamin E can be given to dogs and cats. Discuss a proper dose with your vet based on their body weight.
