Is it ok put diatomaceous earth on six week old kittens for fleas? I have already given them a bath but I want to make sure that all the fleas die.

Unfortunately, diatomaceous earth will not do anything to kill the fleas. There is no scientific evidence at all that it works, only anecdotal evidence. You can use Frontline spray safely to kill the fleas, and when the kitten reach 8 weeks of age, you can use a spot on treatment such as Advantage or Revolution. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home.

As long as it is labeled safe for pets then it won't harm them, typically the food grade version, see the website link. https://www.diatomaceousearth.com/blog/be-sure-to-follow-these-de-safety-precautions/
However there is no evidence that shows that diatomaceous earth will prevent fleas on your kitties, so its likely they can still get infested.
As an alternative I would recommend Revolution topical flea preventative that lasts for 30 days and is safe to give kittens over the age of 6 weeks old.1 people found this answer helpful
