Deep chested dogs such as shepherds and great danes are atgreatest risk for bloat where the stomach becomes expanded with a mix of air, food and fluids to the point it causes distress and breathing problems, if the stomach twists this is a life threatening surgical emergency. Feeding smaller meals regularly, slowing down the rate of eating with slow feeders and making sure no large volumes of food or water are consumed immediately before or after exercise can help to prevent it
