My puppy got into a Styrofoam cup of carrot cake. It looks like she ate part of the cup and a good portion of a piece of carrot cake. Should we try to induce vomiting, or just let it pass? She is probably 7 pounds

So typically the ingredients of carrot cake are not toxic to dogs, but if she ate a good portion of it, Minji may develop vomiting and diarrhea from the the sugar. As for the cup, this is something may pass without problem. I don't recommend owners induce vomiting at home. That because hydrogen peroxide (what owners use at home) can and does cause esophagitis and gastritis often worse than the initial problem. In addition, she could aspirate, and you would have the equipment or knowledge to treat that. You can take her into the vet to have vomiting safely induced with a shot, or you can monitor her. Chances are the cup will pass without problem, but if you do see any vomiting or diarrhea from the cake, you can try a home remedy for her. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, diarrhea continues on the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!
