My dogs current diet has about 250 mg of salt based on what I feed her. (7 oz per day) Is this too much? I also give her pig ears and bully sticks occasionally. I contacted the place where I purchase them and they said they don't add any salt. Is this ok to give? Why does her food have so much salt in it? I read online that a dog her size should have about 50 mg. Per day. My local vet told me that she could have 1,000 mg per day. She's 17 pounds. Why would my vet tell me this?
