I gave my puppy more than double the safe(?) dosis metoclopramidehydro-chloride, 8 mg (instead of 3) for a 6 kg dog. Is she gonna be okay? I gave her so much because the vet told me to but I looked it up later online and apparently the medicine is not safe for dogs under 10 kg

If you gave the medication as your vet prescribed it she should probably be fine. In rare cases of overdose adverse reactions include changes in mentation (depression, nervousness, restlessness) and behavior. It may also cause sedation. Keep an eye out for any of these symptoms and if you notice them call your vet.
I hope this helps. Thanks for using PetCoach. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for using Petcoach!
It is a little bit too much for a one time dose but you could give 3 mg every 6 hours, so it isn't a total day over dose. If your Vet prescribed it that wasy then she/he may be using it off label for something different.
From the ASPCA poison control data of people who called reporting overdoses: 20% had diarrhea, 24% agitation and 16% vomiting.
There is no specific antidotal therapy for metoclopramide intoxication. If an oral ingestion was recent, vomiting should be induced.
if L develops severe restlessness/hyperactivity, rigid posture, spasms, aggression, or severe drowsiness/depression you need to seek immediate veterinary care. Bladder capacity can be reduced and more frequent urination necessary.
Try calling your Vet to see if they want you to induce vomiting. If it has been several hours inducing vomiting will not help and I would just monitor for the above signs.
I hope this helps. Good luck!
