My boyfriend German shepard age 9 started getting a red eye 3 days ago ... we thought the neighbors dog might have scratched it now pupils are uneven and is now running into things ...any idea what may the issue

German Shepherds tend to have a variety of possibilities when it comes to inflammation of their eyes (redness, swelling, pain) and include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Traumatic injury which can be blunt or sharp and can cause corneal ulcers 2. Allergic reaction to something like a bite or sting form an insect/spider 3. A condition called dry eye 4. Ocular foreign body where something is stuck in his eye 5. A condition called "Pannus" 6. Glaucoma 7. Fungal infection 8. Neoplastic (cancerous) condition The change in pupil size in the eye with inflammation is due to inflammation known as uveitis. With the large number of possibilities, I would Recommend Laila be examined by a veterinarian to determine the correct course of action. It sounds to me like an oral anti-inflammatory will be needed in addition to some topical medications, but the vet will want to stain the eye to check for ulcers and check her eye pressures first; other testing may be necessary either at this appointment or at a recheck appointment.

Hi , I have a 9 year old dog who looked like she was stiff in her back leg the past couple of days and last night she was limping a lot and looked like her back leg was sticking out more then usual. My 12-year-old female Cocker has always been calm but now is deaf and recently had a bad UTI. She’s on antibiotics and thyroid medication and has dry eye, for which I put an ointment in her eyes. She used to sleep next to me but now prefers the floor, and it feels like she wants to be alone. Her water intake and appetite are good, but she just watches my husband give dental bones to the other dogs instead of participating. She does go up and down the stairs much slower.

Hi Would you recommend vaccinating a cat (7 yo, indoor, no other pets) who has a fatty liver? His ALT has been between 140–180 units for the past 1.5 y, and CHOL ~ 7–8, despite being on a diet and having lost weight (he now weighs about 4.9 kg). He was vaccinated before, but after the liver issue was discovered, we stopped vaccinating him. If the fatty liver persists, would it still be advisable to resume vaccination, or would you recommend avoiding it to prevent additional strain on the liver?

Higgins started making the awful crunch noise this past November. He’s only making it when he’s sleepy, sleeping, or waking up. I thought it was teeth grinding but to be safe I brought him to the vet and they checked his teeth, said he has a little bit of plaque but over all looked good. My dog had an infected sebaceous cyst for months, and an abscess near it too. I took him to 4 veterinarians and each prescribed antibiotics. None of all helped my little buddy, and he didn't get better at all. I did labs for him few days ago for culture and sensitivity of pus and a doctor prescribed meropenem SQ 500mg every 12 hours. I discovered my dog drinking out of a bucket of really gross dark green water outside. He was throwing up for a few days. I’ve since removed the bucket of water and he’s stopped throwing up. I am concerned however if he needs antibiotics or something in case there was a bacteria or parasite in the bucket of water.
