My 14 year old dog developed a cough a few months ago and i believe it weakened his esophagus. His cough is gone now but it now hurts him to swallow solid food. He whines and throws up the food. The vet says he has high calcium and believes he has cancer somewhere in him. Any way to fix the esophagus problem instead of just assuming he has cancer? He wants to eat.

• Higgins started making the awful crunch noise this past November. He’s only making it when he’s sleepy, sleeping, or waking up. I thought it was teeth grinding but to be safe I brought him to the vet and they checked his teeth, said he has a little bit of plaque but over all looked good.
