Hello, my name is Angel and I have a 4 month old female Shorkie. She has dry flaky skin, looks like dandruff on the area underneath her ears and neck area. Is there anything I can use from petco to help this out or this a serious matter?

Flaky skin, like what you have posted a picture of, can be due to an overgrowth of yeast in the skin. This can also make the skin greasy and malodorous. Typically a medicated shampoo is most beneficial in cases like this.
I hope this helps. Thanks for using PetCoach. Best of luck.

Hi Angel,
That is a lot of flaking and I would not consider this normal. If she is acting like it is bothering her then I would get her to your vet for an exam and some testing of the skin. If she doesn't seem bothered by it then you can try some of these products. I suggest an omega fatty acid supplement that you feed her daily and an anti-seborrhea (dandruff) shampoo or mousse to use on her coat/skin a few times a week. Use both products as directed.

Skin issues can take quite a while before you notice an improvement so don't expect it to be quick. If you do both of these things for 4-5 weeks and you are seeing no improvement or the skin looks worse then you should get her to your vet for an exam.
Hope this helps. Best wishes.
