We are trying to figure out how long our dog has had an ulcerated eye. Neovascularization has started. How long does it take for neovascularization to be noticeable by our vet.

Neovascularization can occur in as little as 3-5 days in small, localized areas, but can take a week or more for the entire cornea to develop neovascularization. I hope this helps you to establish a time frame for Bella's ulcer and that she's on the mend soon!

Hello. Thank you for using PetCoach.
There is not one specific answer to your question. The answer is, it depends. Some dogs will get an ulcer and the neovascularization is quite fast; you can see if within a day or two. Sometimes it is not noticed for a week or more. Some dogs (especially if it is a very superficial ulcer) never have any neovascularization.
There is not going to be a definitive way to know how long the ulcer has been present. The best gauge of that is by noticing when Bella started showing clinical signs.
Hope this answers your question. If not, please feel free to post again. Best wishes.
