My dog has had diarrhea for a while now and it’s concerning me quite a bit. From my knowledge dogs aren’t supposed to get diarrhea

Diarrhea is not normal for any animal or human, but dogs can certainly develop diarrhea due to a myriad of reasons. Some of the more common causes of diarrhea in young dogs include the presence of intestinal parasites, gastroenteritis from eating different foods, toxin exposure, liver disease, among many other conditions. Since Layla has had diarrhea for a period of time, I would strongly recommend taking her to her veterinarian for evaluation. The vet will be able to perform a physical exam and then perform any necessary diagnostic testing, such as fecal flotation tests to check for parasites or any necessary blood tests. From there, they will be able to determine the best course of treatment. Until you were able to take Layla to the vet, you can try feeding her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice. Offer her a one cup for every 10 pounds of body weight of the 50-50 chicken and rice mixture. I hope this helps and that Layla feels better soon!

Yes, you are correct that diarrhea isn't normal for dogs and when a dog has it, it signifies a medical problem. Layla should see a vet as soon as possible for her diarrhea, and I recommend taking her into one first thing in the morning. She could be suffering from a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body intestinal worms, or a change in diet causing her diarrhea. The cause needs to be diagnosed so she can be treated, and it's important for her to see a vet. Please take her into one tomorrow. Good luck, I hope this helps!
