My dog is a Boxer mix. He is about 11 months. He has trouble eating and his weight is 60lbs but you can easily see his ribs and he looks underweight. He’s not interested in his food that much. Should I start feeding him wet dog food instead of dry? Should I just buy chicken and give him chicken meat? He has no problem eating meat. He also has ‘happy tail’ and has a cut on the end of his tail. I didn’t realize till I saw blood everywhere on my walls, cabinets and chairs. i put a bandaid on it.

Every pet is a little different in what they prefer to eat. Try the wet canned food to see if that appeases him more than the dry kibble. As far as his weight and body condition score is concerned, this particular breed is typically a lot leaner than other breeds and due to the shorter haircoat you can see more of the dog, giving them the appearance that they are underweight when they really aren't. Use this website link for a reference to use to find out if Leo is underweight or not. It gives you certain parameters to use to make that determination. https://www.wsava.org/WSAVA/media/Arpita-and-Emma-editorial/Body-Condition-Score-Dog.pdf As far as his happy tail situation goes, you will need to apply pressure to the area and pack gauze on the wound. If you cannot get the bleeding to stop, then you will unfortunately have to seek help at your local ER vet clinic to ensure this is dealt with properly. There aren't many over the counter anti-coagulant medications available, so a vet visit is warranted to deal with the "happy tail" if the bleeding doesn't stop. I hope that your pet Leo is able to recover well and best wishes dealing with his weight. Take care.
