My dog has a prolapsed anus and I’m wondering what we can do at home to help? What kind of diet or what? We've tried 2 different local vets and neither were much help and we don't have much money for him to have a surgery right now.

A rectal prolapse needs to be managed with surgery. It cannot be corrected at home. I realize you have financial constraints but you must understand that not every medical condition can be fixed/managed without veterinary intervention. The vets haven't been able to help you because you are restricting what they can do due to your finances. I understand that but you also have to understand they are doing the best they can with what you will allow to be done.
This condition needs surgery and you have to find out what caused the problem in the first place to prevent it from happening again. This may progress to a very serious issue. That tissue cannot stay out of the rectum for too long without getting damaged. He could get a severe infection (sepsis) as the tissue may become necrotic and die. He may also get to the point where he cannot pass any stools. Please find a way to get the surgery done. Hopefully this link will help you.

In the meantime, all you can do is keep the prolapsed tissue clean and moist by using vaseline or other petroleum jelly type product. Feed him foods to keep his stools soft but not diarrhea to prevent straining.
