We got a chihuahua puppy who was 7 weeks old which is pretty early. This past week he hasn’t been eating much and he scoots his butt on the floor and doesn’t poop a lot. Today it seemed like he was gagging because he was going to throw up but he didn’t vomit.

It could be Frado has intestinal worms. Those can be common in young puppies, and if he had a heavy infestation, it would make him feel ill. I'd take him into the vet first thing in the morning for a health check. Best of luck.

It can be normal for puppies to only have one or two bowel movements per day. Scooting can be the result of full anal glands or given Frado's young age, intestinal parasites are more likely. Parasites can also migrate through the lungs and fill the gastrointestinal tract if there is a heavy parasite burden, which can result in gagging and/or vomiting. Try to tempt Frado to eat regularly with his normal puppy food, even if it means mixing in a teaspoon of canned puppy food now and then. At this point, I recommend taking Frado to his vet for an exam and fecal flotation test to check for the presence of parasites. Your vet will be able to prescribe an appropriate dewormer for any specific parasites present. I hope this helps and that all goes well!
