My cat has some mysterious ear irritation going on. She doesn't scratch at it but constantly shakes her head. I've been cleaning them more frequently because of it. It doesn't look infected to me (no redness or goopy discharge) and I know what ear mites look like (work at a shelter) and I definitely don't see any of those either. What else could be causing this frequent head shaking?

• Higgins started making the awful crunch noise this past November. He’s only making it when he’s sleepy, sleeping, or waking up. I thought it was teeth grinding but to be safe I brought him to the vet and they checked his teeth, said he has a little bit of plaque but over all looked good. I asked the doctor what she thought the noise was and she said it’s probably just him adjusting his jaw.
