My 2 dogs got into a bad fight. I separated them, but I noticed one has a bloody ear. A small amount of blood is coming from inside the ear and her cheek. I have dabbed the areas with hydrogen peroxide and alcohol several times. The bleeding is minimal but I am more concerned with the risk of infection. Should I take my dog to the vet to have her ear specially cleaned and/or be given antibiotics? Thanks!

Hello, Thanks for reaching out. I know dog fights can be very scary! First, you did a good job cleaning the would with the initial doses of peroxide but I would not use any more. It can actually do more harm than good to the tissue after the first cleaning.
Secondly, if blood is coming from INSIDE the ear... this is something I would take very seriously. If blood is coming from the ear canal, there could be something rather serious going on.
Please have your dog seen by your vet ASAP to check that out! Good luck and feel free to consult with me privately if you have any follow up questions or concerns! You marked this answer as helpful, we appreciate your feedback

Dog mouths are very nasty, so I would recommend taking your dog to the vet for evaluation. I wouldn't use any more peroxide and alcohol after the initial cleaning, since it can slow healing (and it burns!).
