I just brought home a new GSD puppy. She is 8 weeks old, and has an umbilical hernia about the size of a dime. The breeder said that their vet looked at it and felt confident that it would heal on it's own within a few months, but recommended we push the "knot" back in regularly. We just look her to the vet we were looking to use, and that vet told us that if it was going to heal on it's own it would have done so already, and she will need surgery. Can you give me any advice with how to proceed?

I thought it was teeth grinding but to be safe I brought him to the vet and they checked his teeth, said he has a little bit of plaque but over all looked good.
