I have a 10-year-old chihuahua mix breed who is relatively relaxed and doesn't react to many thing typical for a dog to bark at. Recently, he has been very anxious and nervous in my apartment. He'd shiver and his tail would be between his legs. He'd also hug the corners of the living room and refuse to move. He used to be comfortable in my apartment, but I don't know what event could have sparked the new fear. I take him on longer walks but he refuses to want to come back in.

• Higgins started making the awful crunch noise this past November. He’s only making it when he’s sleepy, sleeping, or waking up.
