Newly rescued adult/senior GSD has arthritis, elbow dysplasia, is below weight but otherwise healthy. He won't use stairs, I think to avoid pain. He just whimpers & stares at steps when I try to coax him. I plan to feed Rachel Ray's adult Zero Grain kibble, same as my 12yo dog with EPI. Since GSDs can be susceptible to developing EPI, I thought Sarge may benefit from it. Should I switch food due to his joints & if so, to what? And, how much food do GSDs need daily to gain, then maintain, weight?

• Higgins started making the awful crunch noise this past November. He’s only making it when he’s sleepy, sleeping, or waking up.
