Why is my cat's poop like rubber in texture?

Your cat may need to increase his fluid intake. The worry I have is that he may become constipated. Your can try to avoid this by adding a tablespoon of canned pumpkin to his food daily. Make sure not to buy pie filling, just the plain canned pumpkin. This is usually very readily accepted in cats. This will increase fiber and water intake. Consider feeding more canned food or switching him to canned food completely. Also, make sure there are plenty of water bowls and consider buying a pet fountain. Cats are intrigued by moving water and a pet fountain will encourage them to drink more.

Rubbery or gray stool may indicate an issue with the digestive tract that breaks down bile acids or provides digestive enzymes (such as the liver, gallbladder and pancreas.) It may also be triggered by illness or a food allergy. If your cat has been having strange stools for several days it is best to schedule a vet appointment and bring in a sample of your cat's stool to help determine what the cause may be.
