My dog has a long nail and while attempting to cut it I've noticed it looks different than her other nails, it starts to twist and the base seems wider and open with a visible orange-y colour. I'm not sure if it's something to take her to the vet about or if she just needs her nails cut.

• Higgins started making the awful crunch noise this past November. He’s only making it when he’s sleepy, sleeping, or waking up. I thought it was teeth grinding but to be safe I brought him to the vet and they checked his teeth, said he has a little bit of plaque but over all looked good.
