My ~5 month old blue heeler mix breed had E-coli that led to her having a UTI. She was on clavamox for 2 weeks and the UTI came back 2 days after finishing this med. She was on another antibiotic for 2 weeks, and the UTI just came back again a week after finishing this med. The urinalysis taken last week showed the E-coli was gone. They want to give her ANOTHER antibiotic for a month, x-ray to check for stones in her bladder, and potentially ultrasound. Any other advice? Is this common? Thanks!

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. So sorry that Ash is having these issues.
I don't think this would be considered normal or common especially in a 5 month old puppy. I don't know what you mean exactly when you say the UTI came back - what type of clinical signs was she showing? Has any blood testing been done? Is she drinking a lot of water? How was the urine collected when the testing was done - sterile or non-sterile? I don't understand why they would want to put her on another antibiotic if the E.coli bacteria was gone. Did they actually send a urine sample out to a laboratory for a culture?
Without knowing more history it is difficult for me to advise. You may want to consider doing a private consultation with me or one of our other vets so we can chat back and forth to get more information. That way we can help you better.
Without knowing much more, I can only recommend you try this supplement (Crananidin) - it has helped many patients of mine with urinary issues. It will not hurt to try it and it may help.
